1 to 1 Advocacy
This project provides one to one issue based advocacy for adults with learning difficulties.
Advocates support people to speak up about their issues and concerns. They make sure that a person’s voice is heard, their wishes and views are listened to and rights respected.
Advocates work in way that supports people to feel valued, included and in control. They may use easy words, pictures or signs to communicate and share information. Sometimes an advocate will speak on behalf of a person.
“Advocacy has helped me to get my rights and has given me confidence to take control over of my life”

This project provides one to one issue based advocacy to any adult who face discrimination or disadvantage.
Advocates support people who have difficulty or lack the confidence to speak up, to express their views and wishes, secure their rights and make informed decisions.
Advocates are loyal to the person they support, working in a way that helps them feel valued, included and in control. Sometimes an advocate will speak on behalf of a person.
“Having someone on my side helps me get my voice heard so that I feel included in decisions about me”

This pilot project provides advocacy to older people within residential and care home settings. In particular we focus our work with people who have little or no family contact or friends. Our aim is to maximise health, wellbeing, independence and quality of life through 1:1 advocacy support.
“As I don’t have any family, it has been helpful to be able to talk to an advocate… I feel involved and listened to now”
