1:1 Advocacy (Learning Disabilities)
This service provides one to one issue-based advocacy for adults with learning disabilities.
Advocates support people to speak up about their issues and concerns. They ensure that a person’s voice is heard, their wishes and views listened to and their rights respected.
Advocates work in way that helps people feel valued, included and in control. They may use easy words, pictures or makaton to communicate and share information.
Sometimes an advocate will speak on behalf of a person, representing the views of that person.
“Advocacy has helped me to get my rights and has given me confidence to take control over of my life.”
